One of the first details to solidify when booking your session will be where you would like to have your photos done. Do you like cityscapes, murals and streetlights or do you prefer woods, rivers and greenery?
Your background can drastically influence your photos and set the tone for the whole session. Below, I will list a few of my favorite locations in mid-Michigan and beyond that work best for every preference.
Nature
Fenner Nature Center - Lansing
Fenner has a lot to offer with grassy plains, beautifully intricate woods, bridges over water and lots of space to choose from without having to walk very far.
Frances Park Rose Gardens - Lansing
The overlook at the rose gardens is amazing for showing off the beautiful Michigan October colors and the stonework and backdrops are unbelievable. Easy to get to and timeless.
Woldumar Nature Center - Lansing
There are a few covered areas in case of bad weather, and lots of great scenery for fun photos. Also has the option of a few photos in the rustic barn, grassy fields and tall grass.
DeVries Nature Conservancy - Owosso
Gorgeous sunflowers are in bloom in late summer, and there are so many wonderful areas for photos. The tall trees, sloping hills and easy trails make it perfect for nature photos.
Ledges at Fitzgerald Park - Grand Ledge
So many areas to explore at this park, you can find every kind of nature backdrop here. From rock formation ledges to bridges, wooden stairs, and walking paths, you won’t be disappointed. Ringwood Forest - St. Charles
Tall pines within easy walking distance and beautiful overlooks over the river are perfect for any adventurous photo sessions.
Studio Rentals
The Lansing Studio - Lansing
Perfect for families, maternity, couples and more! Rentable for $50 per hour and includes multiple backgrounds, seating options, and it is the perfect solution for small sessions in need of flexibility. The patio is also open for rent during the summer season if you’d still like an outdoorsy feel.
The Peony Room - Lansing
A unique studio open to rent with multiple photo areas all in one long room. Each setup provides beautiful lighting and backgrounds with lots of sitting and room to move around and experiment.
Studio 1127 - Lansing
A brand-new space in Lansing with lots of natural light, greenery, kitchen area, a beautiful side room with lots of mirrors and a bed! The exposed brick and unique seating areas make this a gorgeous studio option. Space must be booked by the photographer, so let me know if you’re interested and I’ll get it set up for you!
Studio Owosso - Owosso

A beautiful, brand-new studio has opened in Owosso and offers greenery, natural lighting, overhead mood lighting & is the perfect creative space for a wide range of photography needs for $70 per hour.
Creative Grace Studio - Bay City

Another brand-new studio, this cute space is perfect for small family sessions, newborn photos, and more. The soft tones and buttery natural light pair perfectly together with the natural wood floor, and it’s close enough to downtown for rustic city looks within a short walk.
Leni Kei Photography Studio - Flint

A beautiful space filled with greenery, neon signs, white drapery and fabulous, rich colors, this studio is rentable for only $60 per hour. Also features a bed and several unique photo areas to keep sessions bright and creative.

Reo Town & Old Town - Lansing
Murals and exposed brick galore! Reo Town and Old Town both have so many options for unique and colorful backgrounds within easy walking distance.
Third Street Star Bridge - Bay City
Imagine dancing in an empty street under the star bridge during a couples session! A beautiful spot for spontaneous romantic photos.
Car Garage Rooftops - Grand Rapids
There are quite a few Rooftops in GR accessible by stairs and elevators that provide gorgeous cityscapes and natural lighting.
Michigan has so many gorgeous views to offer, it’s impossible to compile them all into one list. That’s a big part of why I am always open to new ideas for locations when booking your sessions!
